I want to thank again the 150th Anniversary Commitee for their planning of the church celebration. The table decorations were great, food was tremendous, drinks were superb, attendance fantastic and the music and choir were stupendous!
I was grateful that so many of you were able to attend along with all the Religious Women, Priests, the Knights of Columbus and the Archbishop to share in our festivities. Thanks to all who attended and made it possible. A good time was had by all!
-- Father Joe
Archbishop Carlson presided at the 4:30 pm Celebration Mass held on Saturday, June 8, 2019. Several priests from the Jesuit and Franciscan Orders were in attendance along with many former Pastors, Associate Pastors, and Religious Women who served at the parish over the years. The Knights of Columbus provided their honor guard, and the parish choir added beautiful music to the very inspiring liturgy for all those who attended.
Over 500 hundred people attended the dinner reception on Saturday to celebrate the 150th anniversary of the church dedication. The rainy weather held off allowing many to spend the evening under the tent listening to the German band and catching up with the priests and religious who came back to Borgia for the event.
In celebration of the 150th anniversary of our beautiful Church, we will be hosting a Speaker Series throughout the spring. Each speaker will offer topics of interest relevant to everyone in their faith journey. Please plan to join us for these very informative events.
SPEAKER SERIES SCHEDULE
SISTER MARY KATHLEEN RONAN
"Mother Teresa, our Sister in Christ"
Everyone loves a vocation story, in which someone feels called by Christ personally to embark on a mission. They are inspiring. But often these vocation stories are about the beginning of the beginning. We will look at an example of the vocation story of a saint, and how it evolves over a lifetime. All of us who want to be close to Christ have a vocation story. Our story may have moments of religious zeal and times of doubt. This is also true of our saint.
BRIAN MILLER
We all read the depressing statistics about the Catholic Church today, but what can you do? Come hear how you, as an everyday normal parishioner, can live as a missionary disciple and help rebuild our church. Jesus Christ calls us to fulfill the great commission in Matthew 28. Pope Francis calls us to live as and make more “missionary disciples.” Brian will share the Church’s message about our fundamental duty as a missionary disciple to encounter Jesus, grow in love and knowledge of Him, and live as a witness of His love. This is a perfect message for parishioners of all ages!
The 150th Anniversary of our Church and the 185th Anniversary of our Parish will be celebrated on Saturday, June 8, 2019. It will begin with Mass with Archbishop Carlson at 4:30 pm, followed by dinner and music.
