Thursday, February 2nd, is the 40th day after Christmas Day. This holy season ends with a very important church feast, the Presentation of Our Lord in the Temple. On this special day we commemorate Mary and Joseph bringing the child Jesus to the temple in Jerusalem for the first time, 40 days after His birth.
Today, the feast is commonly known as Candlemas Day because of the blessing of candles. The lighted candles remind us that it is Jesus Christ who is the true Light of the World.
Candles will be blessed here at St. Francis Borgia after the 7:00 am Mass on Thursday morning, Febuary 2nd. You may order special candles from Altemuellers Jewelry, and they will deliver those candles to church. After they are blessed, you may pick them up at Altemuellers. You may also bring candles from home and have them blessed.
