The
Annual Cardinal Rigali Service Award provides recognition and expresses appreciation to outstanding, long-term volunteers and employees of parishes, schools, and other entities of the Archdiocese of St. Louis.
On Wednesday, September 26th,
Deacon Leon Noelker, one of our longtime parishioners, was presented the 2018 Rigali Service Award by Archbishop Robert Carlson. The criteria for being nominated is based on a long-term body of work that exemplifies consistent outstanding service to others and supports the mission of the Church. Deacon Leon's involvement over the years proves just that.
Deacon Leon Noelker was ordained to the permanent diaconate on June 15, 1996. He has been the director of the RCIA program here at St. Francis Borgia Parish. He has encouraged, recruited and walked with many people on their journey of faith to investigate and become Catholics. He has helped others to be a part of the RCIA as sponsors and presenters.
He has been very dependable and very available to help anyone in need. Whether it is spiritual as bringing them Holy Communion to picking them up and bringing them to Mass or even to take people shopping or to the doctor. He has led the rosary or prayer service at funeral home for the families of the deceased parishioners. He leads the parish in the celebration of First Friday evening devotions and has taken charge of the 24-hour Eucharistic Adoration on Tuesday and Wednesday mornings.
He has definitely put into practice the corporal works of mercy in our parish. He does not ask for much and is always inclusive to everyone. He has a great, compassionate heart.
Congratulations, Deacon Leon, on this much-deserved award!
