Last weekend we were sorry to hear of the death of our beloved former Pastor, Msgr. Jack Costello. Msgr. Jack is fondly remembered by many in our parish who were shepherded by him for many years from 1994 - 2005. He left a deep impression with his caring style, enthusiasm, pastoral care, wonderful homilies, and love for the history of SFB Parish. He had the dream of what we now know as Jesuit Hall. We continue to benefit from his visionary leadership and the generosity of parishioners who followed his lead.
On a personal note, I was blessed to have served here with him from 2003-2004. I remember the long talks late into the night! The walks with Jonah. The belly busting laughs many times as he relayed stories. I remember his care and compassion for the sick and for families grieving the loss of a loved one. Msgr. Jack was a good man, a great priest, and a true servant of God and the Church. Please pray for the peaceful repose of his soul and pray for his family.
Switching gears…We will celebrate First Communion this coming Saturday, April 9th, here at St. Francis Borgia. Our second graders are excited and ready! Please pray for them as they prepare for their big day. And pray that their excitement and anticipation might wear off on us and help us be more zealous to receive the Lord in the Eucharist.
Next Sunday is Palm Sunday and the beginning of Holy Week. Here’s a sneak peak at the schedule for the sacred days of the Triduum:
Holy Thursday Mass at 7:00 p.m.
Good Friday Service at 12:00 noon and Stations at 7:00 p.m.
Holy Saturday Easter Vigil at 8:00 p.m.
Easter Sunday Masses at 7:00, 9:00, and 11:00 a.m.
Please consider participating in the Triduum services as much as possible. It’s a great way to help us focus on Easter as we celebrate the Lord’s victory over death.
