Dear Parishioners,
Many, many thanks for all of our volunteers who did such a great job with our Rummage Sale last weekend. We are so grateful to all who donated their treasures to support the sale and the parish. We had good crowds! This is such an important service to our community as we give people the opportunity to purchase things for less than they could get elsewhere. By all accounts the Rummage Sale was a grand success! Thank you!
How blessed we are to be able to offer that kind of service all year long through Encore! If you haven’t been there in awhile, stop in. You may want to bring some gently used clothes to donate or give a couple hours of your time to volunteer, or just browse around the store. Again, what a great and unique service our parish provides to the community! And it’s all done by volunteers! Thanks to all of our awesome Encore volunteers!
This weekend we have the opportunity to support our high school students who are going to attend the Steubenville Retreat and Conference in July. Our youth group members will be selling car wash coupons. Please support them if you can. If you would like to make a donation to help support this trip, please let me or Fr. Tony know.
Speaking of Fr. Tony…many thanks to him for coordinating the recent Christpower retreat that we held here on our campus. They had a great group of high school students who did service projects around the area during the day and then had some retreat style programs in the evening…and a lot of fun along the way. We are blessed to have been able to host this.
Here’s some exciting news! One of the folks who helped is our new Youth Minister. In partnership with Our Lady of Lourdes, we have hired Mr. Daniel Smith as our new Youth Minister. Daniel will be able to focus his time on youth ministry efforts for our parishes. You will be seeing more of him and hearing more from him as he gets started in his new ministry. Welcome aboard, Daniel!
I had an opportunity this week to speak with Fr. Jeff Maassen who will be coming to St. Francis Borgia Parish. He is very excited about coming here. Fr. Jeff was ordained a priest in 1997. You will be hearing more about him, Fr. Tim Henderson, and Fr. John Deken as time goes on. I know you will welcome them warmly just as you welcomed Fr. Tony, me, and all of the priests who have served here. For now, please pray for all priests who are preparing for a transition this year. Thank you for your continued support.
I’m covering this weekend at St. John’s (Gildehaus). I will see you next week! Have a great and blessed week.
