It is not often that Christmas falls on a Sunday, but of course it does this year. I was told by some of our parishioners who visited different area homes on the recent house tour that most of the houses had a lot of Christmas and Santa Claus decorations, but they did not find many homes with the nativity scene as part of their decorations.
I personally love to sit in church with the lights dim, and look and meditate on our Christmas Creche. I also do this in my home or rectory. There is something special about viewing that scene. We are so fortunate that the second stained glass window on the west side of our church is the Nativity scene, which remains with us year round.
What is the special image of Christmas that you look forward to? What makes Christmas special and unique for you? Is it the Christmas Mass? Is it the family gathering around the dinner table or around the Christmas tree? Is it the family signing Christmas carols? What makes it special for you?
During this Christmas season, I want to express my gratefulness to all of you, for sacrificing your time, talent and treasure to St. Francis Borgia Parish. You are most generous, and I pray that the Lord will bless you and your family, whether it be here or in his eternal kingdom. Through your generosity, we were able to fulfill the request from the Archdiocese for the Beyond Sunday Campaign. This is just another example of your ability to step up and give what you could. We would not have been able to meet the goals of the campaign without the sacrifices and prayers contributed by all of you in one way or another.
Thank you for all you do,
Father Joe
