Happy Mother’s Day! What a wonderful day to celebrate our Mothers, Grandmothers, Godmothers, and anyone else who fills that role in our lives. The love that they show to us is a real reflection of God’s love for us. They love us even when it’s difficult to love us! They show compassion, patience, kindness, flexibility, and shower us with their care. Sometimes our Moms need to show tough love and we are the better for it! Take time today to thank God for our Moms and pray for them whether they are still with us or with God.
Congratulations to Tim Reis on his Installation to the Ministry of Acolyte! This is one of the steps on the way to Tim’s Ordination to the Diaconate. In his new role, Tim will assist at the Altar during Mass and you will be seeing him frequently. Tim will also continue in his ministry as a Lector proclaiming God’s Word at Mass. This is an exciting step for Tim which will help him grow in familiarity with ministry on the Altar. Please keep Tim in your prayers as he continues his formation for his ministry as a Permanent Deacon.
I apologize that I provided the wrong mailing address last weekend for Fr. Brian Hecktor. I’m so sorry about this. Fr. Brian is currently assigned to St. Mark Parish (4220 Ripa Ave., St. Louis, MO 63125). I’m not sure where my brain was when I typed the wrong parish and address. Again, my apologies. I know Fr. Brian would appreciate hearing from you if you get the chance.
This Friday, May 14th I’ll be participating in a prayer service with the Washington Police Department. This is National Police Week which gives us an opportunity to remember our law enforcement officers who have made the ultimate sacrifice by giving their lives while serving and protecting our country. We are grateful for the service that our local police department provides us. Let’s pray for them and for their safety as well as for their families and loved ones who support them. I invite you also to pray for the officers of our Franklin County Sheriff’s Department, Missouri Highway Patrol, and other law enforcement officers in our area, state and nation.
Don’t forget...Our Lady of Fatima Rosary on May 13th at 10:00 a.m. at the Riverfront. This will continue on the 13th of each month through October. Keep an eye on the bulletin and website for reminders. All are welcome. It’s a chance to pray together and enlist the help of Mary, our Blessed Mother, for all of our intentions.
Have a great and blessed week! Thanks for all you do as a member of our parish family.
