Happy Independence Day! As we celebrate our independence, we give thanks to God for our country and for those who have fought so hard to protect and preserve our freedom. To all who have served in our military and to all who continue to serve, thank you and be assured of our prayers for you and your families and friends who support you. Mass tomorrow (Monday, July 5th) will be at the regular time of 7:00 a.m. I hope you enjoy this holiday weekend.
Last Sunday we had a wonderful celebration for Deacon Leon. Many thanks to all who helped to plan, set-up, serve, and clean-up after the party. He was all smiles and expressed to me his deep appreciation for the Mass and reception in his honor. As I’ve mentioned before, Deacon Leon is not moving away and will still be around the parish and our community. Now he will have the choice of when he wants to participate in things and not feel any pressure to do so. Thank you again, Deacon Leon, for your ministry to us. And thank you to his wife, Marcie, and their family for the support they have given to Deacon Leon which allowed him to carry out his ministry here at St. Francis Borgia.
I’m happy to announce that Missy Frankenberg has joined our parish staff. Missy will primarily work in the area of parish administration dealing with financial matters. She will work closely with the staff of the Archdiocesan Office of Shared Accounting who is now providing our accounting services. Missy will also be helping with various duties in the parish office. Missy is a familiar face as she’s been around the parish for a long time and has volunteered for many years administering the SFB Shop & Earn program. We will be seeking some help for the Shop & Earn program in the near future. We are grateful for Missy’s service to our parish and for assuming these new responsibilities. Please join me in welcoming Missy to our parish staff. As a reminder, we would like to convene our Ushers/Greeters, Eucharistic Ministers, and Lectors for a gathering to renew ourselves in these ministries through some prayer and then a quick meeting to review duties associated with each ministry. For your convenience, we will offer 2 evening sessions on Monday, July 12th at 6:30 and on Tuesday, July 20th, at 7:00 p.m. If you are an Usher, Lector, or Eucharistic Minister, we would ask that you attend one of these sessions if possible. If you are interested in becoming a member of one of these ministries, please contact me or the Parish office and we can put you in contact with the coordinator of the ministry in which you are interested. We are indeed blessed by all who serve our parish in these ways.
Enjoy the holiday weekend! Be safe! Thank you for all you do for our Parish. Be assured of my prayers for you and your loved ones.
