Dear Parishioners,
I hope you enjoyed the July 4th Holiday! As always our town puts on a wonderful celebration with great fireworks and family friendly activities. It’s such a joy for me to see the community come together to celebrate our nation and freedom. Special thanks to the American Legion for the work they do to make all of this happen each year. We are sure blessed. Let’s continue to remember all of our veterans, all who made the supreme sacrifice for our country, and for all who currently serve in our armed forces.
Fr. Tony and I are working hard to finish out well here at Borgia, this parish family that we have grown to love. In the midst of getting ready to move there are always conflicting demands between current and new assignments. Fr. Tony is finding himself coming and going between Archdiocesan events where he’s needed. I’m trying to plan for the future and the challenges of bringing 3 parishes under my pastoral leadership. That said, we are still going to do our best to serve you. Please don’t hesitate to reach out to us if you need anything and we will do our best to do what we can. These transitions are not easy on anyone, including the priests. Thank you for your understanding and patience as we navigate this.
And we hope you can make the farewell celebration on July 29th if your schedules allow. We will celebrate Mass at 4:30 and then have a nice gathering after Mass in Jesuit Hall. All are invited. There will be food and drink and time to socialize.
Another word of encouragement to make a donation to the Annual Catholic Appeal. In April, Rob & Moira Vossbrink spoke at our Masses about the ACA and the good it does all over the Archdiocese, including here in Washington and at St. Francis Borgia. If you haven’t done so already, please take a moment and make a donation to help support the many, many ministries that receive funding from the Annual Catholic Appeal. Your gift is really a gift to many individuals and families who receive assistance with education, counseling, faith formation, priestly formation, and the list goes on and on. You can drop your donation in the mail, at our parish office, or you can go online to aca.archstl.org to make your donation. Every gift helps make a difference to someone in need. Thank you for your consideration.
Have a blessed week!
