Dear Parishioners,
Congratulations, Deacon Dave Tobben! We are so happy for Dave, Lucy and their family and for our SFB Parish Family. Dave will be a wonderful addition to our ministry team here at Borgia. His new role will be to serve as Deacon at Masses and to assist with parish ministry in different capacities. Dave’s class is the first class to be ordained by our new Archbishop Mitchell Rozanski. We are looking forward to your ministry among us, Deacon Dave!
Our church ceiling renovation continues. The Autenrieb Company has been busy working on the murals that will help to make our beautiful Church even more beautiful. They first had to take all of the Apostles down and preserve them. After that they had to take down a canvas covering over the plaster ceiling. Once the plaster was uncovered, the workers repaired any plaster that needed it. As I understand it, then a primer was applied to the plaster followed by a new canvas material. After that was primed, then the painting was started. It is quite a process - and all done on scaffolding about 50 feet high! The design of the ceiling will incorporate some symbolism and figures from the windows to better incorporate the ceiling into the rest of the Church. The Apostle figures have been refreshed - those paintings are over 100 years old! As part of the ceiling renovation, we will add the names of the Apostles. It should be very nice when finished!
Please remember to support our Fall Festival Raffle by purchasing your raffle tickets and by encouraging family members, neighbors and friends to participate. There’s more information in this bulletin, on our website, or by calling the parish office. We hope to be back in person next year for a fun-filled Fall Festival.
Our Annual SFB Rummage Sale is approaching quickly. As announced last weekend at Mass, the dates have changed to September 17-19. The Rummage Sale will take place at the KC Hall Pavilion, so it will be outside. Please support the Rummage Sale as you can and spread the word. More details in this bulletin.
Our Washington Deanery will once again hold a Wedding Anniversary Mass and Dinner on Sunday, September 20, 2020 at St. Joseph’s Church in Neier. Thank you for all you do to support our Parish. Your prayers and support mean so much to our parish staff and it helps all of us live out the mandate from Christ himself to bring His love to our corner of the world.
