Next Sunday we will be celebrating our Parish Fall Festival. We sure missed the celebration last year and I’m so glad we will be having it next weekend. If at all possible, please come join in the celebration. We will have lots of fun activities for all ages, plus you can get some of our world famous chicken and roast beef dinners. We will offer outdoor seating and carry-out for our meals.
We still need plenty of volunteers for the Festival. If you have not yet signed up to volunteer, please do so soon. You can sign up at this link:
https://signup.com/go/OGTDuon. As always, we appreciate your support and involvement, and we count on your help to make this year’s fall festival a success. Thanks for whatever you can do to help!!
Thanks for your support of the special collection for the relief efforts for the victims of the devastating earthquake in Haiti. If you would still like to contribute, you may drop your donation in the collection basket at Mass or send it to the parish office. Please be sure to note on the envelope that it is for disaster relief in Haiti.
The priests of the area are happy to bring back the Sunday 6:00 pm Regional Youth Mass beginning on September 19th! St. Francis Borgia Parish will host the Mass here at Church. We are moving it due to the size of the chapel at Borgia High School and to hopefully have more room to welcome all who wish to attend. The Mass is intended to be for the high school aged youth of our area, but anyone is invited to come and worship together.
While we are hosting the Mass, this will not technically be a St. Francis Borgia Parish Mass, so we won’t make parish announcements unless they affect other parishes as well. The high school students will serve as ushers, lectors, etc. The collection taken up will go to assist with youth ministry efforts which is a collaborative effort of the parishes in the area. We will, however, distribute any parish envelopes collected to the parishes for which they are intended. All loose donations will go to the youth ministry efforts. There will be certain Sundays when we won’t have the Mass, e.g., October 31 and December 26. We will publicize when we won’t have Mass through this bulletin, so keep an eye out for that.
Congratulations to our parishioners who were named by the Washington Chamber of Commerce as Outstanding Young Professionals - Ginna Christiansen, Petra Engemann, Amy Kopp, Sam Unnerstall, and Spencer Unnerstall. Ginna Christiansen serves as our School Nurse at our Grade School. Each of these folks have demonstrated excellence in their professional work. They will be honored at a luncheon on October 4th.We will soon see write-ups about them in an upcoming edition of
The Missourian. We couldn’t be happier for them and we couldn’t be happier to claim them as our very own! Outstanding. Young. Professionals. Congratulations, Ginna, Petra, Amy, Sam, and Spencer!! You make our Parish family proud!
