Fr. Mike's Message - 09/19/2021

Thank you for a wonderful Fall Festival last Sunday! So many volunteers! Great turnout! Just a great spirit around here! I am so grateful to Philip & Mary Kleekamp who chaired this year’s Fall Festival. And thank you to Justin & Laura Voss for serving as co-chairs. We are so blessed by them and all who pitched in to make the Fall Festival a great success.  We served about 1,500 dinners!  We’ll provide final numbers and proceeds as soon as we can.  Again, thank you for your support!

Congratulations are in order for Joe Holtmeier.  Joe has served our parish well for many years as the Director of Maintenance.  This Wednesday, Joe will be honored with the Cardinal Rigali Service Award from Archbishop Rozanski.  We will be heading down to the Cardinal Rigali Center for Mass with Archbishop Rozanski and an awards banquet after Mass. This award honors people from throughout the Archdiocese who have gone above and beyond in their service to parishes and agencies in the Archdiocese of St. Louis.  Congratulations, Joe!  We thank you for your service to our parish!  We are proud to have you as one of our own!

This evening we will restart the Regional Youth Ministry Mass. We are hosting it here at SFB Parish. Mass begins at 6:00 p.m. with a Youth Ministry event following it each week. Special thanks to Father Tony for all the work he has done to help with the Youth Ministry!  Just as a reminder, this Mass will be more of a regional Mass than a Parish Mass.  If any parish envelopes are received in the collection, those will be distributed to the parishes from which they came.  Any money collected that is not designated for a specific parish will go towards the regional Youth Ministry efforts.  I want to be sure you understand this so you know where your hard earned donations are going.  If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to Father Tony or me.

Our Parish’s Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults will start meeting in early October.  If you are interested in becoming Catholic or finishing your Sacraments of Initiation (Baptism, Confirmation, and Eucharist), or if you know someone who might be interested, please contact Fr. Tony, Deacon Dave, or me and one of us will be happy to pass along any pertinent information.  We are excited to get moving on this year’s RCIA process.

Mark your calendars for Sunday, October 17th.  We will once again offer our drive-through Sausage Supper!  More details to come…
