Welcome to Seminarian John Windsor! John is a student in his 2nd year of Theology studies at Kenrick Seminary. He is from the Diocese of Bismarck, ND. We were able to welcome him at the 9:00 and 11:00 Masses last weekend. As you can imagine, he is very busy with his studies and only has a limited amount of time to spend with us. Most of his time here will be spent ministering to people who need to have Communion brought to their homes. We are excited to have John join us at Borgia. Please take a moment to introduce yourself to John if you get the opportunity to do so.
The
school air conditioning work has been completed with the generous donations you made to the Fr. Joe Cool Club (what a great and catchy name!). I am so grateful to Fr. Joe and the team who organized this effort. It is really working well for our students and faculty. As we have been preparing for the gym to get some much needed air conditioning, a couple of issues came to the fore. First, the actual cost of air conditioning the gym will be almost $30,000 more than the original estimate. Additionally, we had the unexpected issue of a leaking roof on the gym. The roof is of the age that it needs to be replaced. We have received bids for it and are currently looking to get that project moving at a cost of approximately $37,000. This unexpected but high priority item of replacing the gym roof needs to be taken care of sooner rather than later in order to protect the structure. We have consulted with our Parish Finance Committee and are working towards completing both projects. If you are so inclined, we would definitely appreciate any contributions toward these projects. We have a wonderful parish campus and we will continue to work to keep it updated and in good condition. Thanks for your ongoing support and for any assistance you can give to help.
Don’t forget to come up to the KC Hall today (Sunday, September 20th) from 11:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. for some good fried chicken.
The proceeds of today’s Chicken Fry will benefit our parish. Since we missed celebrating our Fall Festival last weekend in person, we didn’t want to miss the opportunity to offer a good meal for you to take home and enjoy with your family and friends. Some of our parishioners will be staffing the KC Chicken Fry today, so come out and show them some love and get some good chicken to go!
Next Saturday, September 26th, there will be an
ecumenical Prayer Rally in New Haven along Highway 100 beginning at 10:00 a.m. Members of several local congregations will join clergy for some prayers and reflection. The event will take place near the new bridge over Highway 100. Parking will be available in the Lutheran Church lot. Thanks to Deacon Dennis who will represent our Parish at this event and offer a prayer as people gather to pray for our country. All are invited! If you have any questions about this, please contact Deacon Dennis for more information.
This Friday will be
Homecoming for Borgia High School. The parade will begin at 1:00 p.m. Then on Friday evening, the Knights will take to the gridiron for the Homecoming Football game. All are invited to come out to either or both events to support our Borgia Knights!
