I pray and hope that you're taking some time to focus with prayer during these Advent days. A great way to help prepare us spiritually for Christmas and to help us soak in the spirit of this season of preparation is to celebrate the Sacrament of Reconciliation. We are reintroducing our Combined Parish Penance Service with Our Lady of Lourdes. The priests from our parishes will be available for confessions on Monday, December 13th beginning at 7:00 p.m. here at St. Francis Borgia. (In Lent this will be hosted at Our Lady of Lourdes.) What a great way for Catholics in this area to come together to pray and celebrate God’s unconditional love and forgiveness. I hope to see you there!
This Wednesday, December 8th, is the Feast of the Immaculate Conception which is a Holy Day of Obligation for Catholics. Masses for the Holy Day will be celebrated at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday, and on Wednesday at 7:00 a.m. and 12:00 noon. Fr. Tony and I will also be having Masses for our Grade School and High School students during the day.
A couple of weeks ago, our Scouts held their annual food drive. Look at these numbers collected! 5,850 cans of food and 1,971 dry good packages were received by our SFB Food Pantry! The Scouts collected over 19,000 items that day. Lots of people will benefit from this and I couldn’t be more proud of our Boy Scouts and Cub Scouts! Many thanks to them and their leaders for the hard work they put into this worthwhile effort.
And a word of thanks to the many folks who stayed after 7:00 a.m. Mass on the Wednesday before Thanksgiving to switch out our music books, missalettes, and music supplements! Their effort helps our community to worship together as we raise our voices and hearts in prayer. We had a great crew that morning. I’m so grateful for our parish and the generosity of our parishioners.
This morning we welcome Santa and Mrs. Claus who are making a celebrity appearance at our Christmas Bazaar and Breakfast. All are welcome to join for some good food and fun from 7:30 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. in our Grade School cafeteria. Special thanks to our Ladies’ Sodality for sponsoring this fun event!
This evening we will be hosting our Advent by Candlelight for women. This Thursday we will have our Advent by Neon Light for men. (More info about this in this bulletin.) Also, check out Formed.org for Advent reflection material.
Congratulations to our 2nd grade students from the parish who received the Sacrament of Reconciliation for the first time this past Thursday! Always a great event!
Get ready for Christmas! Our Masses will be as follows:
Christmas Eve at 4:00, 6:00, and 10:00 p.m.
Christmas Day at 7:00 and 9:00 a.m. (Note: even though Christmas is on a Saturday, there will be no 4:30 p.m. Mass that day.)
Sunday, December 26th (Feast of the Holy Family), we will celebrate Masses at the normal times of 7:00, 9:00, and 11:00 a.m. (No 6:00 p.m. Mass on the 26th.)
