Since 1956, SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Hospital has been sustained and uplifted by the generosity of the St. Louis Catholic community. Today, it is the only free-standing Catholic pediatric hospital in the country, touching the lives of more than 200,000 children each year from the St. Louis area, Metro East Illinois, across the country and around the world. Their faith-filled doctors, nurses and caregivers serve all children in need of exceptional care, regardless of their family’s ability to pay.
As Chairman of the SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Board of Governors, I am calling on Catholic donors from across the St. Louis area to show your support in the spirit of giving on
Glennon Sunday weekend June 2-3, 2018. This special collection offers us the opportunity to answer God’s call to show compassion and mercy for the sick, to demonstrate love and concern for others, and to support the critical, lifesaving work at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon.
Last year, our St. Louis Archdiocese collectively raised more than $500,000 for the hospital. Gifts to Glennon Sunday are put to immediate use through the Children’s Fund, which benefits many of the hospital’s programs, services and special needs, including innovations in technology, vital supportive services and charity care.
I hope you’ll take a moment to read the story about
Michael Loness, a child whose parents prayed every day for a kidney donor for their little boy. Those prayers were answered a few months ago in a most unexpected way, thanks to the kindness of a stranger. Miracles like Michael’s happen each and every day at SSM Health Cardinal Glennon, and I hope you’ll consider making a gift at Mass on Glennon Sunday or online at
glennon.org.
On behalf of the many children and families who will benefit from your gift, I express my sincere appreciation for your continued prayers and for your support of Glennon Sunday,
“Where Faith and Healing Unite.”
Sincerely yours in Christ,
Most Reverend Robert J. Carlson, Archbishop of St. Louis
Chairman of the Board of Governors
SSM Health Cardinal Glennon Children’s Foundation
