Dear Missionary Disciples of Christ, Today is the start of the National Eucharistic Congress in Indianapolis, Indiana. I am writing this letter on July 17th. If you do a search on the website for it, it will come up. This is the First National Eucharistic Congress in 83 years. The Congress will end on July 21st.
Why are we even having this Eucharistic Congress? I could answer this in a lot of ways but I will just quote from paragraph 1324 of the Catechism of the Catholic Church. "The Eucharist is the source and summit of the Christian life.......... For in the blessed Eucharist is contained the whole spiritual good of the Church, namely Christ himself, our Pasch." Let that be a statement to meditate on "the source and summit of the Christian life.”
We are in Sunday Cycle B where our main Gospel is Mark. Starting on July 28th and the following four Sundays we will actually be proclaiming from John Chapter 6. This is a foundational chapter and it is so important that it is placed here in our Sunday Cycle of Scripture.
I will be giving one presentation on John Chapter 6 on Thursday evening, August 1st at 6:30 pm and repeat the presentation on Saturday morning, August 3rd at 9:00 am, both presentations will on the 3rd floor in Jesuit Hall Banquet Room.
All are welcome. All are welcome to bring whatever food, beverage, etc. you wish.
