Here is a sweet and simple craft to honor The Blessed Mother! May Crown for Mary. As the end of the school year nears, we continue to help our students grow in faith and devotion. We call on Mary, the Mother of Christ, for her constant intercession and loving, steadfast guidance. This May, give your family the opportunity to crown Mary with a beautiful wreath!
Materials List: One pipe cleaner per student (any color, as it will not show) - Tissue paper in various colors - Scissors
Directions:
Use scissors to cut tissue paper into two-inch squares. Make a pile for each color you would like to include on your crown.
Use the end of the pipe cleaner to poke a hole in one square and slide it onto the pipe cleaner.
Crumple the square with your hand to give it textures so that it will look more like a flower.
Add 3 or 4 more squares of the same color, each time crumpling the square a bit.
Begin a new color and follow steps 2-4.
Continue adding colors (in a pattern or randomly) until the pipe cleaner is completely covered except for the two ends.
Twist the two ends together, and then wrap them around each other to form a smooth circle.
Spread out the flowers around the circle evenly so that they cover the exposed pipe cleaner.
“My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord; my spirit rejoices in God my savior. For he has looked upon his handmaid’s lowliness; behold, from now on will all ages call me blessed. The Mighty One has done great things for me, and holy is his name”. - Luke 1:46-49 – The Canticle of Mary
Our students will crown Mary on May 13th at 9:15 AM, followed by the Rosary on the Riverfront! Please join us!!!
