Little did I know, part of being the only priest at St. Francis Borgia Parish for the week, means that I also get to write the “Pastor’s Pen” portion of the bulletin. Mwhaha! (I think all of the power is starting to go to my head.)
Being ‘in charge’ has certainly been enjoyable, and thankfully, the Church is still standing. Here are a few things I learned this week:
There are a lot of doors to lock at night!
Krakow is pronounced “CROC–oh.”
I am really bad at making meals for myself.
The staff and volunteers at our parish are amazing.
There is nothing worse than needing to itch your nose while distributing Holy Communion.
I still need adult supervision on the playground.
God is very patient with me!
Not too bad for a priest who has only been ordained 57 days!
One event of particular celebration over this past week was Father Joe’s birthday on July 17! If you see him, be sure to wish him a happy belated birthday.
I also want to give a huge shout out to all of the workers who make the Rummage Sale such a big event. I am quickly learning how blessed we are to have so many people who are willing to volunteer their time at our parish. Your generosity is very much appreciated!
Finally, please say a prayer for all of the participants and volunteers that will be running our VBS program from July 22-25. We pray that camp is a joyful opportunity for all to deepen their relationship with God.
It goes without saying, but if you need anything from the youngest parish priest in St. Louis, and now, thankfully, the associate pastor at St. Francis Borgia, please give me a call or shoot me an email.
