As I approach my 70th birthday next month, I have been thinking and praying about my role as a priest in the Church of St. Louis. I asked Archbishop Carlson if I could have a position with less responsibility moving forward. As I announced at last weekend’s Masses, I will be transitioning back to the role of Associate Pastor at All Saints Parish in St. Peters beginning on Tuesday, July 28. When talking with several priests, we have all agreed that as we get older the responsibility wears you down and you do not have the energy you once had. It is with great sadness that I will be leaving this community and this parish. Thank you for all the prayers and support which you have given me over these past seven years.
I am pleased to announce that Father Mike Boehm will become the new pastor at St. Francis Borgia. He will also remain as Chaplain for St. Francis Borgia Regional High School. An interim president has been appointed by the Archdiocese of St. Louis to assume Father Mike's former role until the search for a new President can begin in the fall. We are blessed to have someone who knows and loves our community so well be able to remain here to serve our parish and the high school. Please keep us both in your prayers as we transition to our new roles over the next few months.
On Monday, June 22, we have scheduled to replace the canvas on the barrel part of the ceiling. The present canvas will be taken down, the apostles will be cut out and reused. Then they will put a new canvas and repaint to match the current ceiling. The Apostles will be placed back up on the ceiling. The project is scheduled to be finished by the Labor Day weekend. We will have Mass in the church on the weekends, but during the week we will have Mass on the third floor of Jesuit Hall. Chairs will be set up for social distancing as that is still the rule.
Thanks for all your generosity to the parish and all the support which you have given to me over these past seven years.
