Did you hear last weekend’s Gospel when it was mentioned: “But whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never have forgiveness, but is guilty of an everlasting sin." If you listened to last week’s FORMED article, it is when the people in the Gospel said, "He is possessed by Beelzebul,” and "By the prince of demons he drives out demons." Jesus came by the power of the Holy Spirit. When the people denied that Jesus came from God and said that he came from the prince of demons, then they cut themselves off, so that no matter what Jesus did in miracles they could not come to faith in Him. You can hear this at
https://formed.org/study (Opening the Word - Ordinary Time, Week 11) by Dr. Tim Gray. For me this was a different explanation than what I heard before.
Part of our life journey to heaven are retreats or days of recollection. That is when we spend one day or a few days on a more intense time of prayer, reflection and listening to spiritual talks. We have offered those days of reflection in Advent and Lent. We have had in the past Christ Renews His Parish, too. I know that the Cenacle who meets on Wednesdays is a way to continue to influence people’s spiritual lives.
Well, I will be leaving this Sunday afternoon for my annual retreat. I will be back Thursday afternoon. My place of retreat will be Pallottine Retreat House in North County. This retreat is just for the Archdiocesan priests which I like to attend. There are other retreat houses in the area such as the White House and Kings House. Would you think about going on a retreat? I know Parish Missions perform a similar, but not identical experience which we are contemplating once again.
