As we celebrate Father’s Day this weekend, it is a good opportunity to think about our fathers or maybe our parent(s) in our lives. We have realized over these past few months how many roles that parents sometimes have to take on. They do it because they love their children and they want the best for them. They make so many sacrifices of time, talent and their resources.
Countless hours of time and providing for education becomes such a large investment of themselves to do this. How often have we said thank you? How often have we prayed for them? How often have we taken them for granted and then when they are gone, we realize even more what we had and now lost.
As we are going through a lot of changes, Miss Delaney Brewer is finishing up this month. If you remember, she came from Benedictine University and this was her first full-time position. She did a great job. She organized our sacrament program, directed the PSR, and worked with teachers in the school for our school Masses and services. She partnered with Fr. Tony in having a high school youth group and also helped in the RCIA program. She was a busy lady! Miss Brewer received her special ring and will be getting married in the fall. She and her fiancée will be moving to Wichita. She will be missed. The students really loved her as she was also on the playground and in the cafeteria. I want to thank Miss Brewer for her faith and commitment which she has shared with us this past year. Every person has gifts to share and not everyone has the same gifts, but sometimes they bring different gifts which she has done for us.
I was able to find a person to fulfill the position of DRE with Kyra Gulledge returning to us. Kyra was with us from 2013 till last year. She will be bring her talents and experience with her to us once again. I want to thank her for taking this position.
Thanks for all you do for the parish and for us priests.
