From the Baltimore Catechism: Why did God make you? Answer: God made me to know Him, to love Him, and to serve Him in this world, and to be happy with Him forever in heaven.
Thus the purpose of our life here on earth is to get to heaven. Everything we do in this life should be directed to that purpose. How we do that is what Jesus taught us: ““You shall love the Lord, your God, with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind and to love our neighbor as ourselves.” Matthew 22: 37 & 39
To love God means we should know God. How we know God is by prayer, which means spending time with God and through reading the scriptures. Do you have a scheduled time for prayer daily? If you do not, then do you find yourself skipping it or missing it at the end of the day? Do you every look at the bulletin for the readings of the day? Or use the app which gives the readings of the day? Or maybe you just open your bible to read from it daily or frequently? When you pray, do you do all the talking?
Do you ever just sit and be in the presence of God? We do offer Adoration every Tuesday and Wednesday early morning. You can also pray at other times and locations too. These are just a few examples for you to reflect on.
