Happy Feast Day! Today as a parish, we are celebrating the feast of the St. Francis Borgia. The actual feast day is October 10, therefore, this weekend we have the scripture for the 28
th Sunday of the year, but the prayers of St. Francis Borgia. We are celebrating our 185th year as a parish this year. We should be proud of our heritage and step up the challenge to do our part to make sure we carry on the tradition of our predecessors.
If you are a recent new parishioner, like I am of six years, how many times since you joined the parish have you worked the Sausage Dinner? It is a great opportunity to meet other parishioners and get involved to build parish community. Your worship on weekends will have more meaning as we gather as a parish community to celebrate the Eucharist. For those of you who have been here a much longer time, when was the last time that you worked the Sausage Dinner or the Fall Festival? It is very easy for all of us to get complacent and let someone else do it.
One thing we can all do from our homes or at church, is to pray for good weather. We escaped the rest of the day on our Fall Festival without the rain, however, the early morning rain did affect the attendance at lunch.
I recently attended the Chamber luncheon honoring the 2019 Outstanding Young Professionals. Two of the honorees are from our parish; Mary Kleekamp and Joe Kopp. Congratulations to the both of you!
