I had a conversation the other day about what my goal for the New Year was, in regards to, paying off my pledge to the Beyond Sunday Campaign. I was then asked the question, am I on target with my goal and what, so far, has been the results.
The plan was for each parish to receive 40% of the money which was given. To date, we have received five checks: $192,791.57, $43,616.98, $79,468.27, $44,519.66 which comes to a total of $360,395.48. We receive a segment in March and September of each year.
What has been done with that money? We tuck pointed the front of the church, repaired the stained glass windows, and currently we are getting bids to air condition the top floor of the grade school. We also received benefits for families in our parish for tuition assistance: $57,600 in total. $19,600 for 2016-2017, $23,500 for 2017-18, and $14,500 for the semester of 2018-19. Remember, money is given for the family and not the individual student.
For your information there is another fund, Alive in Christ, which we receive about $60-70,000 year. This fund is both for individual students and their families. In addition to this fund, we have our Parish assistance with the tuition assistance envelope and the Endowment Fund which is for the school.
A total of over $150,000 a year is given out for assistance from the Archdiocese, Beyond Sunday and our Parish, for those families who qualify.
