Sunday, January 26, 2020  |  "National Catholic Schools Week (CSW) is an annual celebration of Catholic education in the United States. Now entering its 46th anniversary year, CSW has traditionally been held the last week in January. Did you know there are over 6,000 Catholic schools in the United States, and in the St. Louis Archdiocese there are 104 prek-8 schools and 25 high schools? This is possible because of the generous support of parishioners and the support of the families who send their children to our school. It is because of St. Francis Borgia Parish that our grade school exists. I know that I speak for our entire school community when I say we are forever grateful for these blessings.

 
Parish community life demands stewardship, solidarity, and hospitality. We teach the students to form and deepen relationships with others and to focus on others’ needs. Together, we discern the gifts and passions which God has given to us and how God is calling us to use those gifts to serve the community through our time, talent, and treasure.  As we nourish a Catholic identity in our students, we must pass on this sense of community. No one is Catholic alone.
 
This year’s Catholic Schools theme is: “ Learn. Serve. Lead. Succeed.”  
These four words are embedded into daily learning at Borgia. Last year, the focus on my welcome to you concentrated on the importance of Catholic education, highlighting our strengths and foundational philosophies.  I named reasons that Catholic Schools and specifically why Borgia matters - learning, safety and faith matter. Those foundations continue to be built upon. I am so proud of the hard work and determination of our faculty for their dedication to continuous improvement.  We are blessed to have the support of Fr. Joe, Fr. Tony and Miss Brewer and the whole administration team. We hope that you will join us after Mass for the Open House and Education Fair to witness this for yourself.
