Respect Life Apostolate Creative Writing Contest Finalists from SFBGS
Each year, eighth graders from throughout the Archdiocese are asked to respond to the topic: Explain why living the virtue of chastity protects us from abortion and blesses us with true holiness, health and happiness. Their hope is that by learning and writing about this issue it will help teens to make good choices in these areas.
Two students are chosen from each school as finalists in the contest. They are then invited to attend an Awards Assembly at the Cardinal Rigali Center where Archbishop Carlson acknowledges all winners for their efforts with a certificate. In addition to these certificates, four $1000 scholarship winners are announced.
The two students shown here are Meredith Obermark and Grant Kandlbinder
representing St. Francis Borgia Grade School. They received special recognition at the ceremony because their essays fell in the top 10% of all eighth graders in the St. Louis Archdiocese.
Congratulations to Grant and Meredith! We're very proud of you!
