Stewardship From Our Kids!
- “Helped by Dad and Grandma and Grandpa by burning trash.”
- “No fighting with my cousins.”
- “I helped Dad at the new house.”
- “I am starting to memorize my prayers. I help Mom and Dad feed our pets.”
- “Thank you, God, for all you did for me this week.”
During this Lenten Season we are inviting the children to bring their offerings from their talents to our Lord. Thank you to all our youth you have submitted their envelopes. During the Lenten period so far, we have received 4 prayers, 9 volunteering instances, and $12.27! We are so proud of you!
The children are provided envelopes that can be used in several ways. In their envelope, they can include a paper they have written or drawn a picture about:- How they spent their time in prayer for others.
- How they spent time giving thanks to God for what they have.
- How they helped someone out in a special way.
- If they do bring a monetary offering, what did they do to earn the offerings placed in the envelope
Ideas of what children can do….
Offer to teach something new to a younger child. Ideas might include, how to tie their shoe or ride a bike. It might include reading a story to another child or helping them with homework. Maybe working with a younger child to improve a skill in sports. Older children could take time to visit a lonely neighbor or befriend a new student.
Children in the older grades can take time to help with Children’s Liturgy of the Word during Sunday Mass. Signup to serve Mass as an Altar Server, sing in the Children’s Choir or offer to greet parishioners as they come to Sunday Mass.
Children could take time to look through their closet for clothing that can be donated to the local shelter for homeless or displaced children. Our Ladies Inn in St. Charles County would be one such place. Toys or books in good condition are also always accepted.Gratitude in Action!
The Parish of St. Francis Borgia does not need the monetary offerings from our children, but wish to offer our children the opportunity to give our Lord a symbol of their gratitude for all that they have been blessed to have. At every Mass during Lent, the priest will stand in front of the congregation with an offering basket allowing the children to come out of the pews and up to him to bring up their envelopes. There will be extra envelopes in the blue Children’s Liturgy of the Word basket at the back entrance of church in case your child makes it to church without one. The parish will report in the parish bulletin not only the cash offerings from our children, but the amount of prayers offered and good deeds performed as well.
Our parish is very proud of our children, and we look forward to sharing the many ways they respond to their baptism call weekly.
