In August 2018, the pastors of ten Catholic parishes in and around Washington announced that a Steering Committee composed of representatives from each of the parishes had made a recommendation regarding the future of the six Catholic elementary schools in the area.
This Steering Committee was charged in February 2018 to study past and present educational realities in the six parish elementary schools serving the families in the Washington area and to develop a recommendation as to how the parishes might continue to provide for the evangelization, formational, and educational needs of families
.
Over the last several months, members of the Office of Catholic Education and Formation have been meeting with the elementary school principals and evaluating all the programs offered at each school and developing an educational system that will continue to benefit our families into the future. The pastors have been provided options that meet the recommendation of the Steering Committee for
“a regional Catholic school system be created that would provide quality faith-based Catholic education in a financially responsible, affordable, and sustainable manner for the parishes and families in the Washington and Southern Warren County area.”
Town Hall meetings have been scheduled at the parishes to discuss the options for a regional school system as follows:
January 5, 2019 – St. Gertrude Krakow (1PM)
January 8, 2019 – St. Francis Borgia Parish January 9, 2019 – St. Vincent
January 10, 2019 – St. John the Baptist
January 14, 2019 – Our Lady of Lourdes
January 16, 2019 – St. Ignatius
All meetings will begin at 7PM unless otherwise noted and the same presentation will be given at each parish. Please plan on attending to learn more about the proposed enhancements to Catholic education.
