We know that summer is near because the St. Louis Cardinal's baseball season is starting! Yes, we are still in Lent and we have a couple important weeks left. Holy Week is so special for us as believers in Jesus. For us, it is the Super Bowl and Final Four of liturgy.
At one time, Holy Week was the only time people were baptized, and this was also the time when those that went to confession were allowed to receive Holy Communion. This was only allowed because they had completed their penance during the entire season of Lent. Just think how easy and convenient it is for us today! We have Baptism for infants and children every week, and it is easy for us to go to Reconciliation, and then almost instantly we are able to receive Holy Communion.
I have scheduled our traditional morning prayer for Lent with Fr. Theby of Our Lady of Lourdes, on Monday, April 3 from 8:45 a.m. to noon. We also have our traditional Reconciliation Service together
on Monday, April 10 at 7 p.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes.
For Holy Week, Mass on Holy Thursday is only at 7 p.m., Good Friday Service is at noon and Stations of the Cross at 7 p.m. and the Easter Vigil at 8 p.m. on Saturday. There are no morning masses those days and no 4:30 p.m. Mass on Saturday.
