All Saints' Day is a solemn holy day of the Catholic Church celebrated annually on November 1. This year the holy day is abrogated. The day is dedicated to the saints of the Church, that is, all those who have attained heaven. Although millions, or even billions of people may already be saints, All Saints' Day observances tend to focus on known saints --that is those recognized in the canon of the saints by the Catholic Church.
For many centuries the Church has designated November 2nd as All Souls Day. This is a day unique unto itself; there is no other feast of the Church quite like it. We set this day aside to remember the Faithful Departed, those members of our families and parish have died in Christ.
On All Souls Day, Tuesday, November 2, we will pray in a special way for those in our parish who have passed away this past year. All parish families who have lost loved ones this past year are invited to attend the 6:30 pm Mass as we honor those loved ones that have gone home to the Father.
