What if you woke up today with only those people and things you thanked God for yesterday?
Think about that for a minute. What did you thank God for yesterday? Your family and friends, your health, your home, your job or livelihood? Did you thank God for the gift of faith or the abundant love that he showers upon you each day?
“It is truly right and just… always and everywhere to give you thanks...”
You have probably heard these beautiful words many times in the prayers of the Mass. That prayer is a powerful reminder of our call to live lives of gratitude and generosity. It is
truly right and just to give thanks.
Each of us has a need first to thank God, and then to share his abundant gifts with others. This is what we call stewardship. I am inviting everyone in our parish to recommit to a life of faithful, joyful stewardship. Here’s a simple reflection to guide your thoughts and prayers:
Do I recognize that God is calling me to share all of my gifts – to be generous with all of the talents I have been given?
Am I aware that by sharing my gifts, I learn to put God first in everything I do? Generosity keeps us from putting other “gods” before the Lord.
Do I know what percent of my income I currently give to support my parish and the local Church?
Renew your stewardship covenant with God today. By sharing your gifts and talents in our parish community, you will help to share the joy and peace of Christ
always and everywhere.
