Dear Parishioners,
Happy Memorial Day Weekend! As we observe this holiday, let us remember and pray for those who gave their lives while serving our country. We honor, too, all who have served in our armed forces and for those who serve us now. These men and women have sacrificed to protect our freedom. Thank you to our veterans, members of our military, and to their families and loved ones who support them. Mass will be at the usual time of 7:00 a.m.
Congratulations, Tim Reis! On Saturday, June 4th, Tim will be ordained as a Permanent Deacon for the Archdiocese of St. Louis. We are happy that Tim and his wife, Barbara, call this parish home. We look forward to his service among us as a Deacon. Tim will serve as Deacon at 9:00 a.m. Mass on Sunday, June 5th and we will have a reception for him following Mass. All are invited. Please pray for Tim and all those who will be ordained on Saturday.
A great big and huge Thank You to our SFB Ladies’ Sodality for their gift to the parish! The members gathered last week and presented me with a check for $12,000! We will use that money to finish off the window shades in the Choir Room in Jesuit Hall. That room gets used quite a bit so it will be nice to have the flexibility to close the shades when needed. Many parishioners have expressed to me their desire to get this project done. As always, I appreciate your input and the support of our Ladies’ Sodality.
Congratulations to Connie Stelzer who was commissioned last Saturday by Archbishop Rozanski as a Lay Minister in the Archdiocese of St. Louis. Connie finished the 3 year program of Lay Ministry Formation sponsored by the Archdiocese. She and I will meet to discuss where she would like to focus her involvement in the parish. Great work! Congratulations, Connie!
This week we will be hosting the first ever (for this area) Christpower Retreat. Fr. Tony has done a great job organizing this for us and we are thrilled to be able to offer our facilities to house the teens as they spend a week in retreat and in service to area organizations. Pray for all who will be participating in this service retreat that they may grow in faith during this time.
Also, beginning Friday morning and continuing on Saturday will be our Annual SFB Rummage Sale. Time to clear out the basement, garage, and closet! There’s more information in this bulletin about times for dropping off items for the sale and for opportunities to volunteer to help. This sale helps make it possible for many people to purchase some items they need or want at affordable prices. It’s a great service to our community. Thank you for your support!
And finally, Congratulations to our 8th Grade students from our Grade School who graduated this past Monday! They’re a great class and will be a welcome addition to the high schools they attend. We will miss them and we wish them well. Please pray for the SFBGS Class of ‘22 as they prepare for their high school years.
Have a great Memorial Day!
