Thankfully, our school is back in session and things are going well. There’s been some excitement in the building with 17 new students who started at Borgia Grade School on January 4th! On our first day back in session, Mrs. Pahl led the afternoon dismissal prayer and began by welcoming the new students to our school and telling them that they are now members of the Borgia Family! Our students and faculty broke out into a spontaneous applause, which was really wonderful for the new students. We are so blessed by our faculty, staff, and students who care for each other and make our school a great place. Please continue to pray for our school community. Our goal is to keep our kids at school and we feel grateful that we have been able to do so.
Our PSR students and teachers will return to the building this week for their classes. They have been troopers this year as they have been learning virtually for most of this school year. Please pray that our PSR classes go well and that we can continue to meet in person as we share the lessons of our faith and learn together how to put those into practice in our daily lives.
As we prepare for the continuing rollout of the Covid-19 vaccine, I would like to direct your attention to the statement of the Missouri Catholic Conference, signed by the Bishops of Missouri, regarding the reception of this vaccine. The following is from the Missouri Catholic Conference website (www.mocatholic.org) and I hope you find it helpful:
“The Missouri Catholic Conference has issued a statement to briefly address ethical concerns about vaccines and the use of aborted fetal stem cells in vaccine research. The bishops stated that if safe and effective vaccines are available that don't rely on aborted fetal cell lines, they "should clearly be the preferred option" for Catholics. "The vaccines currently in development which utilize problematic cell lines, however, should not keep Catholics from seeking vaccination," they stated. "Preserving one's health and that of others outweighs the remote association with past abortions which were neither desired nor intended by those now using the vaccines." To read the complete statement, click here.”
Many thanks for your prayerful support and for all you do to keep each other safe. Thank you for respecting one another by wearing masks, sanitizing, and keeping a safe distance. As we have heard said many times, we will get through this together.
Have a great week! Thank you for your support of St. Francis Borgia Parish.
