As we welcome the new life of this spring season and continue to celebrate the hope and promise Jesus gives us by his Resurrection, we give thanks to God. I’m ever grateful that we get the opportunity daily and weekly to gather as a parish family to say thanks to God through the Eucharist for the ways in which God blesses our parish family of St. Francis Borgia. As a people who have been blessed, we are also asked to give back to help others. At this time of year we are being asked to consider a gift to the 2021 Annual Catholic Appeal. Next weekend we will hear from our parish chairpersons, Tim & Gwen Mauntel. I’m sure grateful to Tim & Gwen for their leadership of our parish’s efforts and I’m grateful to Rob & Moira Vossbrink for serving as co-chairs.
The Annual Catholic Appeal supports vital services and ministries throughout the Archdiocese of St. Louis, including Catholic Education, Pro-Life efforts, material, spiritual, and emotional assistance to those in need, etc. The reach of the ACA goes far and wide, and I bet you know someone who has been helped by it. In fact, our own St. Francis Borgia Regional High School receives a grant each year from ACA. Last year, the gift to Borgia was $130,000. I would encourage you to consider a gift to the ACA in order to continue to assist so many people. This is another example of how when we put our gifts together, no matter the size, they make a tremendous impact to help others. Visit aca.archstl.org for more information. Thank you for considering a gift to the ACA.
Part of my duties as a Vicar General involve celebrating Parish Confirmations at different parishes in the Archdiocese. I will have several of these over the next several weeks and I appreciate your understanding of this and the extra demand on my schedule. As always, if there’s anything that I or Fr. Tony can do for you, please don’t hesitate to call.
Thanks for the care you show for each other and for your cooperation with wearing masks, keeping a safe distance, and washing/sanitizing your hands. And please, if you are experiencing any type of symptoms of Covid-19, please refrain from coming to Church until the symptoms have passed and, as always, consult with your health care provider about it.
Thank you for all you do to support our parish family.
