Dear Parishioners,
This weekend we take up a special collection to help support the Deacon Formation Program in the Archdiocese of St. Louis. Our parish has had some wonderful Deacons come through this program. We are ever grateful to Deacons Dave Tobben and Dennis Meinert who are actively serving now. We are also so thankful for Deacons Gilbert Holtmeyer and Leon Noelker who are now retired from their active ministry but who continue to serve us through their prayer and good example. And we are excited for Tim Reis as he prepares for Deacon Ordination this coming June. All of these men have blessed us through their generous service to our Parish and Archdiocese. Please consider a gift to help support our Formation Program for our Deacons. Please indicate that your gift is designated for the Deacon Formation Program. And, most importantly, please keep the men in formation and those responsible for their formation in your prayers.
All are welcome to join us tomorrow (Monday, October 4th) at 2:45 p.m. on the field near the volleyball courts for a pet blessing as a way to celebrate the Feast of St. Francis of Assisi. We always have a variety of interesting pets and it’s a way to celebrate God’s creation and the gift of our pets who provide such great companionship. Happy Feast of St. Francis of Assisi, founder of the Franciscan Order of priests and brothers who served our parish so well for over 90 years!
On October 17th, just two weeks away, we will be hosting our Sausage Supper! Thanks to Danny and Amanda Williams for chairing this event. We will have drive through dinners sold for all who want to share this awesome food. The SFB Sausage Supper never disappoints! Come on by on the 17th and enjoy some great food! Take the day off from cooking!!!
Also on October 17th, the Washington Fire Department will be hosting an Open House for the community at our headquarters station located at 200 E. 14th St. All ages are welcome to come by and see the facility and the fire trucks up close. Firefighters will be on hand to give tours and answer any questions about fire safety that you might have. It’s always a fun day with activities for kids and you can even win an attendance prize. Come on by before or after you enjoy the Sausage Supper. The Open House will take place from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m.
Congratulations to our parishioners who were named by the Washington Chamber of Commerce as Outstanding Young Professionals - Ginna Christiansen, Petra Engemann, Amy Kopp, Sam Unnerstall, and Spencer Unnerstall. Ginna Christiansen serves as our School Nurse at our Grade School. Each of these folks have demonstrated excellence in their professional work. They will be honored at a luncheon tomorrow, October 4th. We couldn’t be happier for them and we couldn’t be happier to claim them as our very own! Outstanding. Young. Professionals. Congratulations, Ginna, Petra, Amy, Sam, and Spencer!! You make our Parish family proud!
Have a great week! Thank you for your ongoing support of our Parish.
