Happy Halloween! And Happy Feast of All Saints tomorrow! On this Feast we celebrate and give thanks to God for all the holy people in our lives - those officially recognized by the Church as Saints, and those who have touched us by their saintly living. Let us remember them, pray for them and to them, asking for their help to live virtuous, Christ-centered lives. Since this Feast of All Saints falls on a Monday this year, there is no obligation to attend Mass. We will have Mass at 7:00 a.m. for all who want to attend. Have a blessed Feast of All Saints! As a reminder, we will not have 6:00 p.m. Mass this evening (on Halloween).
This coming Tuesday, November 2nd at 6:30 p.m. there will be a Mass for All Souls Day to remember our loved ones who have died. We will have candles for all who have died during this past year as we pray for them. All are invited.
As you go out and about for Halloween, please make safety your number one priority. Wear reflective clothing, carry a flashlight, stay in groups, and be extra careful when crossing the street and while driving. A little caution will go a long way to keeping everyone safe while having some fun.
Don’t forget to set your clocks back an hour next weekend as daylight savings time comes to an end. It’s an extra hour of sleep! And this change in time is always a good time to change the batteries in your smoke detectors. A few minutes now could save a life later on! If you need some assistance with changing those batteries, give us a call at the Fire Department and we can arrange for someone to come by your house to help.
Our SFBGS Home & School Raffle is underway. Tickets are available by calling the parish or school office or you can get one from a school family. The tickets cost $25 each and give you an opportunity to win one of three prizes: $2,500, $1,000, or $500. The drawing for the winners will be on November 23rd. The Home & School Association is made up of parents of our Grade School students and they do so much to support our school. Please consider buying a ticket. We are indeed blessed by our Home & School Association and grateful to them for their ongoing support of SFBGS.
I’ll be away for a few days this week to enjoy some downtime with some priest friends. Fr. Tony is gonna hold down the fort! So go easy on him!!
