What an honor and privilege it was last weekend at the Scout Sunday Mass for Fr. Tony and me to receive Scouting’s Bronze Pelican Award. We are very appreciative of this recognition, though we do not feel in any way deserving of such an award. We are glad to support and promote Scouting in our Parish as it has such a rich history here at Borgia and in our nation. In fact, our community has been blessed by the young men who have been through Scouting in our local Troop 439 and by those who have attained the rank of Eagle Scout. There’s a plaque hanging in the room where the Scouts meet that lists all of the Eagle Scouts from our Troop - and it’s a pretty impressive list of folks who have gone on to be great leaders in our local parish and the Washington community. On behalf of Fr. Tony, we thank the leadership of our Scout Troop for their recognition and for all they do for our Scouts and our Parish.
Breakfast is served today! Come on by the school cafeteria for a delicious meal this morning (Sunday) at our monthly parish breakfast! Good food and companionship will greet you as you sit down and enjoy some good ol’ breakfast. Many thanks to this month’s sponsor who wishes to remain anonymous. Hope to see you there!
Beginning on February 23rd, our Borgia Grade School will be hosting a Book Fair in Jesuit Hall on the 3rd Floor. More details about specific hours of operation can be found in the bulletin or through the school office or website. Books make great gifts, especially for our school aged children and you’ll be sure to find plenty of options there. The Book Fair will go through March 6th.
Thank you to all those who have updated their contact information this past week. This signup campaign will continue for several more weeks and it's very easy to do, so if you haven't already, please take this opportunity to update your contact information. Here’s how to update your information electronically in a secure way: Simply click this link (or type it into your browser): https://bit.ly/SFBParish or scan the QR code located on the "Directory Update" card located in the pew holders. The forms are also available on the Gathering Table in Jesuit Hall and were included in a parish mailing. If you prefer to complete the paper form, please return it to the parish office. You may also call or stop by the parish office for assistance. I appreciate your assistance with this.
Beginning on March 2nd (Ash Wednesday), you will have the opportunity to participate in a survey called the Disciple Maker Index from the Archdiocese of St. Louis as part of the All Things New initiative. The information collected from this survey will help Archbishop Rozanski and the team of folks working on the All Things New strategic planning process to see where we are as a parish and as an Archdiocese (measuring strengths, opportunities, etc.). This information will help them as they begin to develop a plan for the future. The more people that participate by taking this survey, the better! So please take the time to fill it out when you receive it. More information about this will be forthcoming.
As we look ahead to Ash Wednesday, please take note of our Mass times for that day: 7:00 a.m., 12:00 noon, and 6:30 p.m. Ashes will be distributed at all of the Masses on Ash Wednesday.
