This week we begin the Lenten Season, a time of renewal and a time for inner travel. The Greek philosopher Plato said, "An unexamined life is not worth living." This is the call of the season to examine your life.
Will We Answer the Door?
William Holman Hunt, a deeply religious man, was inspired by words of Jesus in Revelation 3:20: "Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if any man hear My voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with Me.” He painted the picture based on these words,
‘Jesus the light of the World’ where Jesus is seen knocking on a door that does not have a knob outside the door.
Hunt explained that the knob is on the other side of the door. The person living in the house can hear the knock of Jesus and can open the door if he so desires. To open the door or not to open the door is totally up to the person in the house. Jesus does not force himself in. In this season, He stands outside the door of our hearts and knocks. It is totally up to us to open the door or not to open the door to examine your life.
The God who founded the earth and established the heavens, formed man from the dust of the ground, and redeemed you and me from the curse of the law, wants to enter our lives. He is the one who can tell the secrets of your hearts. “I can even tell you all of the secrets of your heart”. Psalms 44:21.
All that Jesus wants to know is when you will open the door of your heart so that He can start His work. Time is of the essence. JUST ASK HIM TO COME IN TO YOUR HEART IMMEDIATELY. (Romans 10:9-10)
God bless you all as we invite the Lord Jesus into our heart every day.
