Have you ever read an account of someone having a near death experience, and talk about what they saw. So often the account is described with bright lights.
Well today in the Matthew’s Gospel, we have the Transfiguration of Jesus on Mount Tabor. It is a picture of the future of Jesus and his glorified body. You know we will not have a material body, but a glorified body in heaven.
Speaking of heaven, so often people express, “when I get there, I am going to ask…?” I believe when we get there, we will be so overwhelmed that all the things we had questions about will not matter. Our experience of heaven will be so great, that all of those questions will be forgotten, because of the experience.
Thus, let us use our Lent to focus on being ready for the day when we will be called to experience something beyond what this life can offer us.
Thanks for all you do!
Your Pastor,
Fr. Joe Wormek
The Church of the Transfiguration is a Franciscan church located on Mount Tabor in Israel. It is traditionally believed to be the site where the Transfiguration of Christ took place. This event is in the Gospels this Sunday and tells in which Jesus is transfigured upon an unnamed mountain and speaks with Moses and Elijah.
