"Many of the Samaritans of that town began to believe
in him because of the word of the woman who testified,
"He told me everything I have done."
Jesus meets the Samarian woman at the well in Matthew’s gospel this weekend. Jesus grew up in Nazareth which was up by the Sea of Galilee, and Samaria was a country between Galilee and Judah. So Jesus was familiar with this country because of his journeys.
Jesus expresses a great knowledge about the woman and her past. She is overwhelmed with the experience and she goes to share it with the town about this man who knows everything about her.
It is great reflection for us, and helps us to realize how God knows everything and sees everything about us. There is no fooling God. It challenges us to be honest with ourselves, because we cannot fool God. The challenge we face and the temptation is that we are trying to fool ourselves, and that no one knows it. Sometimes we can even convince ourselves that it did not really happen. Let us live in truth, and focus on being truthful to ourselves.
Thanks for all you do!
