If you happen to attend the 4:30 p.m. or the 11 a.m. Masses, many times you will see this adult dressed in an alb serving Mass, sometimes by himself and other times with some of our regular servers. This is Dennis Meinert who is in formation to become a Permanent Deacon on June 2. Dennis was a parishioner here for sometime then transferred to Assumption in New Haven. He has recently transferred back to St. Francis Borgia. Many times after Mass you will see him with his wife, Judy. As far as I know, he will be assigned to St. Francis Borgia after his ordination to the Permanent Diaconate.
You will see in a couple of weeks a notice in our bulletin of his banns for ordination, very similar to wedding banns. It is to announce to the parish his intention to be ordained to the Diaconate. Like for any wedding it is done so that if anyone knows why he should not be ordained, they are asked to come forward with the information.
Dennis has been a great help these days with the current policy of the servers or their parents signing them up to serve on the weekends. Fr. Buehler is taking over the youth servers, and will be assigning Masses starting in Lent. Please keep Dennis and Judy Meinert in your prayers during these final months of preparation for his ordination.
