Well, I was overwhelmed by the number of people who were at Mass on Monday and Tuesday morning! I will have to talk to our maintenance staff about the weekend so that people can at least listen to the Mass and be able to receive Holy Communion.
Archbishop Carlson has stressed that for those who cannot or should not attend Mass, there is no obligation to attend Sunday Mass. Thus, there is no sin. There is no need to confess this in the Sacrament of Reconciliation. We still need to figure out Holy Communion to those at home. First, it would be good if a family member could do that. Secondly, we do need to keep our extraordinary Holy Communion ministers safe. If they do come to someone’s home, they would not socialize but just be at the door to pray and give Holy Communion.
We received communication just last Friday from the Archdiocese: there should be no gatherings after Mass or on parish grounds that exceed more than ten people. Meetings with ten or less need to abide by social distancing guidelines. Thus, this is what we will be following until further notice.
Since we now have Mass, there might not be a need to leave church open so late. I have not noticed as many people visiting church as before. I know that we are working to have Adoration on Tuesdays till 8 p.m., and that on Wednesdays we have Mass at 6:30 p.m. and confession following until there are no more in line. Probably on Saturday evening we will lock up after the Mass, and Sunday we will leave the church open during the day till late afternoon. On Monday, Thursday and Friday, we will be close the church at
5 p.m. If this is a problem please let me know.
We are in conversation with Our Lady of Lourdes about having Corpus Christi Procession on June 14. We have permission from the city and we are working together on details. Please save date and the time will be determined later.
Thanks for all your generosity to the parish at this time.
