As we continue to have Mass according to our ordinary schedule, there has been plenty of room for people to attend Mass. There is no moral obligation to attend Mass on weekends because of the current situation with COVID-19. If you do not attend, it is good for you watch the Mass on Facebook, on our website or on EWTN and to pray the spiritual communion prayer. On weekends there is plenty of room for people. Church is open and the choir loft is able to be used. The Choir Room and third floor of Jesuit Hall are also set up for the overflow of people to sit. Holy Communion will be brought to all sections.
Deacon Dennis reminds me that if you would like Holy Communion brought to your home, please contact him (573-225-8751) to make arrangements. It is preferable for a family member to bring Holy Communion to the homes. I have restarted my calls and I do not go into the home, but first visit by phone and then go to the front door to pray and give Holy Communion.
We have two new priests for the Archdiocese of St. Louis, Fr. Christopher Smith and Fr. Dane Westhoff. They were ordained last Saturday at the Cathedral Basilica. Earlier this month, we had six men ordained to the transitional diaconate. Transitional deacons are men on their journey to the priesthood and permanent deacons are ordained to be deacons the rest of their lives.
Finally, but not least, thanks for the many ways people have sent congratulations to me for my 44 years of priesthood. I appreciate all your prayers and support. May God hold you all in the palm of His hand and protect you.
Thanks for all your generosity to the parish at this time.
