Pastor's Notes - 10/07/2018

I want to thank all of you who turned in your commitment card this past weekend.  Let me tell you a story from Archbishop Carlson.  “One time a church member gave a large gift to the Archdiocese, and Archbishop Carlson asked if the person had prayed about the gift? The person said, “No.” So the Archbishop gave the gift back and asked the person to pray about it, then give the gift. The person came back a week later and gave the same gift. The person asked the Archbishop, what if God told him to give a lesser gift?  The Archbishop said, “Then I would have to accept the gift, because that is what God wanted you to give.”
 
At last weekend’s Masses, I went around with the basket to collect your stewardship commitment cards. If you forgot it then or you are not present at our masses this weekend, I ask that you please return your commitment card by mailing or dropping the card off at the parish office, so that a follow up letter will not have to be sent to remind you. Please return the card even if you cannot increase your contribution or even if, because of your circumstances, you cannot donate to the parish. I do ask you to pray about your gift.
 
Thank you for all the sacrifices which you make aiding us to “Fulfill the Mission of Jesus.”

*Just a reminder that we will be gone this week for our Convocation which will be held at the Lake of the Ozarks. We will have Mass on Monday, October 8 at 7:00 am and then the rest of the week there will be Communion Services. Fr. Don Glastetter will not be attending from Our Lady of Lourdes, so there will be 8:00 am Mass at OLL Monday through Friday. There will also be 8:00 am Mass at St. Gertrude’s on Tuesday and Wednesday and 6:30 am Mass at St. Ann’s on Thursday and Friday.
