June 16, 2019 -- With the completion of the 2018-19 school year, we wanted to give an update on the progress of bringing unity within our communities to strengthen and secure Catholic education for future generations.
We have asked the steering committee members to become a planning committee and explore ways our Catholic schools might work more closely together. We know this will continue to raise questions and concerns with our staff, school families, and our parishioners; however, we ask for your prayers for all involved as we move this process forward. Please understand once again, no decisions have been made - but we also must be honest and tell you that nothing is off the table.
This very dedicated group of parishioners will be exploring common curriculum, stewardship/finances, and organizational structures. They must be free to explore and discuss any and all options in order to reach the best possible outcome. The reality is that as a Catholic community there are less children in our parish schools today; a decline of 40% over the past 30 years. There does not appear to be anything indicating a change in that dynamic.
The previous town hall meetings served a very important purpose - to begin the conversation of how Catholic education will move forward to serve our school families in the years to come. These conversations needed to take place as we search through all the possible solutions.
During this time of planning, we thank you for your continued patience and your prayers.
