As we enter the ordinary time of the Church calendar, it is a good time to check to see what we do daily or weekly. Is it actually what our intentions are? Sometimes, we suppose that we spend a certain amount of time on a particular part of our life, and actually it is less than we think because we take entirely too much time doing something else on which we only intended to spend a little time.
We might think that we have enough prayer time during the day or week. But maybe it gets pushed to the side and we actually spend a lot less time in prayer. Maybe we spend too much time watching TV, being on the internet, playing video games or doing puzzles which does not allow us to get other activities done which we have a responsibility for. Maybe we try to do too much and we end up being late for events all the time, including Mass.
Believe it or not, Ash Wednesday is February 14 which is just a month away. So, it is not too early to think about what you want Lent to be for you. How will you make this Lent different than other years?
