As we start to approach the summer months, our pastoral council and our school board are ending their term for the year, and there will be some parishioners making a discernment on serving a three-year term in either group. I ask and invite you to pray for the Holy Spirit to help these parishioners discern if this is what the Lord is calling them to do for the parish for the next years.
Discernment should be a part of all our lives because it means that we are listening to the Lord and the Holy Spirit call us to a deeper commitment. Since our parish has so much history, sometimes when I ask or others ask fellow parishioners to serve in some capacity in the parish, their response is that “I did that a number of years ago.”
Thus, there should be parishioners who have not been asked before or who are new to the parish that should be considering a role of deeper commitment of service to the Lord and the parish. Let us all pray that those who are being called by the Lord, do not dismiss this invitation from the Lord, but allow the grace of God to be more efficacious in their lives.
