We now start on the Sundays of the Ordinary Time of Year. We celebrate this liturgical season from now until the Advent Season begins on December 3, 2017. It is a time that we do not celebrate very many major feasts. It is true that we will celebrate the Feast of Assumption on Tuesday, August 15; and in October, the month of the Rosary and Mary, and Thanksgiving in November. It is the longest period of time on Sundays to say the 12
th, then 13
th and on and on.
This liturgical time may be a reflection in our own lives, in that we get into a routine which can be very beneficial. Sometimes, that routine does not contain a lot of spirituality and prayer, but it could provide a stable routine of prayer in our lives.
What is your daily routine during the summer time? The children who are in our catholic school have a routine of prayer every day at 7:45 am, before lunch prayer, 2:50 pm prayer and Mass once or twice a week. But what are they doing during the summer? What are you doing this summer? Do you find it more difficult to pray or to get to Mass?
You know that God does not take a vacation from us! He is there, always waiting for our humble prayers and response to His will. Let us not put God on the shelf and forget about Him this summer!
