I decided to go to St. Francis Borgia Regional High School to view the eclipse and to be with our youth. I thoroughly enjoyed the experience. There were two major telescopes, one which could see the sun spots. They had crickets which were bought and one which was caught in the wild, as they say. All of the crickets and the cicadas made noise when there was the total eclipse. The commentary from Father Kevin and the music which was used helped to make it a well-planned event. For me, it was an experience of God’s creation at its best.
This year we have 174 students in kindergarten through eighth grade and 40 in our preschool program. There is one classroom for each grade. We already have had several events to bring parents together. We had a great time last Sunday for the Back-to-School BBQ after the last Mass and there have been two Meet-and-Greet events this summer to get to know the new principal, Linda Pahl.
The school building interior looks great with fresh paint and updated classrooms. The main office entryway shows off two new testimonial and staff bulletin boards. Our school marketing committee has added some great touches this year. Thanks for all your support of the parish which helps to support our school.
Mark your calendars! Before he left, Fr. Freddy organized another Novena for our Parish Feast Day on October 10. We will have Mass at 6:30 pm on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday evening, (October 4, 5, 6) and Monday and Tuesday evening, (October 9 and 10). Archbishop Robert Carlson will be here on Tuesday, October 10, for the 6:30 p.m. Mass.
