Statistics are always interesting to me. They can tell us what is going on and what changes are happening. I was recently asked how many students we have at our school. The answer is 174. I also added that we have 40 students in our preschool program which is the feeder for our school. There are 40 in our three and four year old programs. I was also glad to see that we had 31 infant baptism and eight baptisms of children between one and six years old for the 2016-17 fiscal year. I am starting to see some of our families having children and also seeing them in church at Mass.
One of our statistics was that we have about 68 new households registered in our parish. If you have seen new people near you in church, please introduce yourself and make them feel welcomed. I did run into a couple of families at the hospital who told me that they needed to get back to church and Mass. My response is “you are always welcome.”
I try not to judge anyone, even though there is always a temptation to do so. There is that temptation in your lives also and I hope that you realize what it does and the damage it can cause our community. Let us pray for each other because there are so many ways which we can cause hurt and division in our community.
Just to let you know, that I will not be here this weekend and for all week. I will be back for Mass at 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, September 9th to start our celebration of our Fall Festival.
